Main Purpose of the Job
• Lead the central account unit of the bank and provide budgetary and accounting support for the Head of Operations
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervises and allocate the work of the central account unit to ensure that all tasks are assigned and completed within prescribed timescales
• Manage and ensure the reconciliation of all internal accounts of the bank (ACHCCC, Ghana Pay etc)
• Manage the payroll and utilities of the bank
• Monitor and contribute to the preparation of financial reports, including weekly and monthly reports, annual accounts, budget preparation etc
• Manage the fixed assets and lenancy agreement of the bank
• Identify any training and development requirements within the Central Account unit and ensure that these are met
• Arrange and conduct training on accounting or financial systems issues as required
• Work with audit, tax and other regulatory bodies to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities through monthly or annual reports
• Prepare a half-yearly summary feedback of financial statements variances from budget
• Actively review and advise management on financial and accounting processes
Qualification Required & Experience
• First Degree in Accounting, Finance or Banking with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a related role
• Must be a member of any of the following professional bodies ICA, ACCA, CIMA.
Knowledge and Competencies
• Proficient in T24 banking software and other banking application
• Central Accounts Banking Operations and Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS, BASEL and Other)
• Accounting and banking principles and procedures
• Tax laws and related regulations
• Bank of Ghana regulations, directives and other regulatory frameworks
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills
