We are a reputable international school which offers the Cambridge curriculum. We are currently seeking to employ a Vice Principal to lead our Secondary School division. The successful candidate will work closely with the school leadership team and to provide exceptional educational experiences and leadership to our students and staff.

Role Definition:

The Vice Principal  for Secondary assumes responsibility for supervising the students and staff, assisting the Scholl Director  Prwith implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students meet and exceed the Curriculum Content Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the Vice Principal works collaboratively to lead and nurture members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents and members of the community. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for discipline of students, supervision of staff, curriculum development, program evaluation, supervision of extracurricular activities, and Associated Student Body financial management.

Responsibilities

Duties of the  Vice Principal shall include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

 


  1. Leading the development and implementation of academic policies and programs, in collaboration with faculty and other administrators.
     

  2. Developing and implementing curriculum and instructional strategies that align with the institution's vision, mission, and goals.
     

  3. Supervising faculty and staff to ensure that they are providing high-quality teaching and instruction and providing support and guidance to help them improve their performance.
     

  4. Developing and managing budgets for academic programs, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
     

  5. Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that academic programs are integrated with other aspects of the institution's operations, such as student services, human resources,  admissions and  marketing etc
     

  6. Assessing and evaluating academic programs to ensure that they are meeting the needs of students and the institution and making recommendations for improvement.
     

  7. Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, such as employers, alumni, and community organizations, to ensure that academic programs are relevant and responsive to the needs of the wider community.
     

  8. Representing the institution at conferences, meetings, and other events, and communicating effectively with a variety of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
     

 

Performance Management & Assessment:

 


  1. Co-ordinate the adequate submission of schemes of work and writing of lesson plans weekly by all teachers and ensuring the appropriate use of teaching aids during lessons.
     

  2. Oversee the adequate teaching of all lessons by the teachers and ensure that no lesson is missed by any teacher.
     

  3. Periodically appraise teachers, supervisors, coordinators and HODs, and submit the reports to the principal.
     

  4. Evaluate lesson plans class syllabi and observe classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
     

  5. Ensure that the instructional programs engage the learner in tasks that require analytical and critical thinking, questioning the known, problem solving and creativity, that they address each student’s needs, interests, and skill levels, that they encourage the student to define individual goals and accept responsibility for learning, and that they provide a variety of methods for the student to demonstrate
     

  6. Conduct regular and formal classroom visits and observations.
     

  7. Ensure that stipulated examination syllabus and curricular are available and fully implemented.
     

  8. Ensure that coordinators and Heads of Departments submit periodic reports on educators, students, and general issues in their respective departments.
     

  9. Ensure that the academic standard of the school is of the highest quality and excellence.
     

  10. Ensure the implementation of intervention programs to enhance student learning
     

  11. Manage internal and external examinations and tests.
     

  12. Determine, organize and implement a diverse, flexible curriculum and implement an effective assessment framework
     

  13. Supervise educational programs designed for the school and evaluate them on a regular basis.
     

  14. Submit to the principal reports of curricular and co-curricular activities including constraints and recommendations on monthly basis and as the need arises.
     

 

Admin & Personnel Management:

 


  1. Co-ordinate the activities of all teaching staff relating to the discharge of their duties effectively, yielding adequate results in the academic standard of the school.
     

  2. Responsible for all curricular and co-curricular activities of their section of the school.
     

  3. Responsible for maintaining and updating all records pertaining to curricular and co-curricular activities of their section of the school.
     

  4. Ensure that all academic staff update their knowledge and keep abreast of developments in their respective discipline through active participation in PLCs, subject associations, seminars, forums, workshops and conferences where relevant.
     

  5. Responsible for deploying personnel and resources efficiently and effectively to meet specific objectives in line with the school's strategic plan and financial context.
     

  6. Ensure active participation of learners in Co-curricular activities both internally and externally
     

  7. Ensures that all materials required for the smooth operation of curricular and co-curricular activities are made available and utilized as and when appropriate.
     

 

Communication & Relationship Management:

 


  1. Ensure that constructive working relationships are formed between staff and students
     

  2. Responsible for coordinating marketing and admissions activities in the school, ensuring an improvement in enrolment into the school.
     

  3. Provide feedback to the Principal as required on the Performance Management of Academic staff at the school.
     

  4. Communicate directly with parents through the use of electronic (emails) and print media (newsletters) and also during Parents Forums and meetings.
     

  5. Ensures that the term reports of all learners are ready on time for distribution to parents.
     

  6. Provide monthly report to the Principal on key responsibility areas.
